The Head And Not The Tail

The Head And Not The Tail

A terminology that’s often used nowadays is “victim mentality”. Though many people are plagued with this, Christians must remember that we are called to rise above this and embrace our identity in Christ. The words of Deuteronomy 28:13 ring true: “The Lord will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom.”

It’s evident in today’s society that many have succumbed to the narrative of victimhood. Blaming circumstances, upbringing, or external factors has become the norm. Yes, there may be some truth to all these statistics, but as followers of Christ, we are called to a higher standard. We are called to be conquerors, not victims.

What sets Christians apart is our unwavering belief in the power of Jesus Christ and the indwelling Holy Spirit. While the world may surrender to sinful debasement, we have the assurance that we have already conquered the world through Him who loved us (1 John 4:4).

The essence of Christianity lies in this transformative truth: through Christ, we are more than conquerors (Romans 8:37). This means that no matter the challenges we face, no matter the trials that come our way, we have the power to overcome through Him who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13).

The Holy Spirit, the very presence of God within us, empowers us to live victoriously. It is through His guidance and power that we can resist the temptations of sin and walk in righteousness. With the Holy Spirit dwelling within us, we have access to the same power that raised Christ from the dead (Romans 8:11).

As Christians, we are called to live in victory, not defeat. We are called to walk in the authority that Christ has given us and to declare His victory over every situation. No longer do we need to cower in fear or succumb to the lies of the enemy. We are children of the Most High God, heirs to His kingdom, and co-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17).

Conquering the victim mentality begins with renewing our minds and aligning our thoughts with the truth of God’s Word. Instead of focusing on our limitations, let us focus on His limitless power at work within us. Instead of dwelling on past failures, let us press forward with confidence, knowing that God is faithful to complete the work He has started in us (Philippians 1:6).

So let us rise up, dear brothers and sisters, and embrace our identity as conquerors in Christ. Let us stand firm in the face of adversity, knowing that we serve a God who has already won the victory. And let us live each day with the confidence that, with the Holy Spirit guiding us, we will always and forever conquer sin.

And let us also remember something very important; that, wherever and whenever the Holy Spirit leads, we must also encourage and lift each other up.
